Camp Warwa Summer Programs

Registration for Summer Camp 2018 will open at noon on January 1.  The full program list and calender will be posted in early December.

Camp Warwa is dedicated to offering an exceptional summer camp experience to our campers and families.  There are many different programs for you to choose from, with camps for all ages almost every week of the summer.

Campers will spend the week with their cabin group and counselors.  Cabin groups are always made up of campers of the same age and gender, and there are always two counsellors per group.  Campers are supervised at all times, and their staff have all the necessary training and certifications to lead them through their programs.  Our incamp programming blends personal choices with memorable group experiences.

There are many different activities for our campers to experience.  There is a strong individual choice component to our camps, allowing campers to choose from a variety of programs including Climbing Wall, Archery, Kayaking, Crafts, Drama, Nature, Circus Tricks, Survival Skills and more!  All programs are age appropriate, and each age group has a unique program to challenge themselves at, such as Vertical Playground for Explorers, Zipline for  Voyageurs, or High Ropes for Adventurers.

Each camper gets to go on an out-trip appropriate to their skill and age.  For many campers the out-trip is a large part of the camp experience, and often the crowning event of their stay. Trips offer unique opportunities to experience nature, strengthen group bonds through cooperation and encouragement, and to meet new challenges and accomplish goals together. An integral part of the group experience, cabin groups gain important outdoor experiences, led by qualified and experienced staff.

In addition to the standard camp activities and out trips, woven throughout the entire Camp Warwa experience are moments of imagination, celebration and wonder.  Costumes are as common as clothing, bunkhouses become secret forts, and each night ends with a campfire filled with songs and stories.  This magic, combined with a supportive community that encourages campers to challenge themselves, is the recipe for unforgettable adventures.

Full accommodations and washrooms are provided, either in our dormitory or cabins.  Every meal is hearty, wholesome and child-friendly,  with special accommodations always made for individual needs.  All aspects of our facility, programs and procedures meet the professional standards required by the Alberta Camping Association.

Camper drop off at camp for all our Summer Camps is between 8:00am - 9:30am on Monday morning.  If you are using our bus service from Edmonton, drop off is at Coronation Park between 7:30am - 8:30am.

Camper pick up at camp for all our Summer Camps is between 6:30pm - 7:00pm on the last day of the program.  If you are using our bus service to Edmonton, pick up is at Coronation Park at 7:30pm.

Where are the Anake Programs?

In 2016 we ran Adventurer programs for campers going into grades 8 and 9.  We also ran Anake programs for campers going into grade 10.  In 2017 we will be blending these two programs together under the name Adventurers and open them to campers going into grades 8, 9 and 10.

Feedback from our families told us that the options for our Anake program were just too limited.  We offered 6 Anake programs last year.  This did not leave families many options for their child’s preferred camp.  This shift will give all our teenage campers more program choices, and our parents more weeks to work with.  This shift also means that all the out-trip options formerly only open to Anakes are now open to all Adventurer aged campers.
