What is Camp Warwa doing to help reduce the spread of Covid-19?
The safety of our campers, clients, and staff is our top priority, and we will be following all guidelines laid out by Alberta Health Services. We are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of everyone on our site during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Please take a look at the information below to understand better how we are dealing with the pandemic onsite.
We will be reviewing and updating these procedures as time goes on and we get more information from Alberta Health Services. Camp Warwa is working to ensure that our 2022 programs will be as safe as possible for all campers and staff. We will follow all guidelines laid out by Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Government.
Camp Warwa requires all campers in our Summer Camp programs and all Camp Warwa staff to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 unless they have a medical exemption.
We would like all families to upload copies of your camper's proof of vaccination status to your family account at https://campwarwa.campbrainregistration.com. Log onto your account and click on 'View Details' for your completed registrations. You can then upload the file for each camper you have.
If you need a copy of your campers vaccination record, you can get it at Alberta COVID records.
Participants in school group programs or guide/scout group programs will be required to follow the vaccine policy of their governing body (Alberta Education, Guides Canada, Scouts Canada, etc.). If multiple user groups are on-site simultaneously, they will be cohorted, and distancing will be maintained between them.
If you feel sick or have any symptoms, we ask you to refrain from coming to our site until you feel better.
If a camper has any of the following symptoms while at camp, not related to a pre-existing illness or health condition, they will be observed for the next hour to see if the symptoms persist:
- Shortness of Breath
- Loss of sense of smell or taste
If the symptoms persist, we will contact the family to let you know that the camper is not feeling well and that they are required to be picked up from camp. while they wait for pick up, they would be kept comfortable and isolated from the rest of the group. The camper would not be able to return that week.
In general, if a camper is sick or unwell at camp, even if they have symptoms other than those listed above, we will require them to return home. If their symptoms did not include any of the above listed symptoms, and those symptoms pass, they may return to camp if they are feeling fully better. Examples of symptoms that could cause a camper
to leave camp, and later return to camp include vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, stomach aches and others.
Handwashing is always a large part of Camp life, and during this time, it is more important than ever. Our staff will be ensuring that everyone has plenty of opportunities to wash their hands throughout the day during their time at Camp.
All camp areas are cleaned regularly to ensure that we are keeping our clients safe. High traffic areas around camp, such as the Washhouse and Dining Hall, will be cleaned and disinfected frequently, with high-touch areas such as door handles and light switches getting close attention. Program areas will also have increased cleaning frequency to ensure that our campers and clients are safe.
Cohorting & Physical Distancing
We will be reviewing this policy over the coming months and will adjust based on public health guidelines. If cohorting and some physical distancing between groups are necessary, our 23 acres of land here at Camp Warwa ensure plenty of space. Our Dining Hall also has ample space to allow tables to be spaced out as needed. We also have two washhouses and two outhouses which can be assigned to different groups to ensure the health and safety of all. While doing programs that require multiple cabin groups to be together, these cabin groups will form a cohor
Outdoor Education Groups
Before a group comes onto our site, we ask that all members assess their health using the Government of Alberta’s Covid-19 Screening Questionnaire. Our procedures will align with those of our local schools and school boards, so you can expect that the rules you follow in school will also apply at camp. More information will be sent out before your trip to account for any changes in health procedures.
What if someone at Camp Warwa has Covid Symptoms
They will be isolated from others at camp in the quarantine zone. They will also be required to wear a mask we will provide if they do not have their own. The parent or teacher of the person will be called to pick them up and take them home. All AHS Guidelines will be adhered to, and we will inform anyone who may have been in contact with this person.
Fighting this Pandemic is a group effort, and we ask that all of those in our Community do their part to stop the spread of the virus and ensure that we can have a safe, fun time at Camp Warwa. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com, and we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
