Lukacs Horvath, President
Now in his second year as our President, Lukacs “Bison” is a Human Resources Consultant for EPCOR, with a B.A. in Human Resources, Chartered Professional in Human Resources. Lukacs supports the development of our staff team members. His consultation has been key in strategically growing our staff team as we’ve expanded our program services.
Sarah Smeltz, Vice President
Sarah, also known as “Worm” is a previous Program Coordinator for Camp. Alongside her Degree in Honours Psychology, she is also a member of the Songbird Neuroethology Lab at the UofA – studying Chickadees. She is currently working on her Masters Degree! Her dedication to camp, new ideas, and natural talent for strategic planning and problem solving, provide great insight for the growth and success of Camp!
Mike McKinney, Treasurer
Now retired, former Executive Director/General Counsel for the Sawridge Group, Past Scout Group Commissioner, Past Director of Little Bits Therapeutic Riding Association, Past Treasurer Glenora Community League, Past National Chair Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, B.Comm, LL.b. Mike’s experience in construction contracts, facility development and non-profit leadership provides expertise relevant to the construction of our new dining facility.
Ian Hosler, Secretary
Now retired, Ian or “Shrub” was a Project Manager Department of Urban Planning & Economy with the City of Edmonton, Past Camp Director of Camp Warwa, B. of Physical Education, majoring in Outdoor Education. Ian has lived the growth of outdoor education in our province and his multi-decade commitment to Camp Warwa has served to steer our growth and vision.
Ellis Connelly, Director
Ellis, also known as Kelpie, started her journey with Warwa as a camper and worked in various roles, including Program Staff and Program Coordinator. She loves spending her time reading, playing the guitar, and being out in nature, all of which she has loved doing at Camp over the years! She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education, and has recently begun a career in Administration. Camp has always held a large place in her heart, and she is excited to take on a new role with the Board, helping Camp continue to grow and prosper!
Joan Guillemette, Director
Past President of the Canadian Progress Club Northern Zone, Past President SILKS CPC Club St. Albert, Owner of Gemport Jewelers, Bookkeeper. Joan brings a wealth of experience in both community service groups and fundraising to our board.
Isabel Wynn, Director
Isabel or “Signal” has been in many roles at camp and founded the position of “Wellness Coordinator”. Signal continues to create safe spaces at camp, shape a work environment that puts the health of all community members first, and bridge connections between camp and alumni.
Scott Lister, Director
Scott “Grizzly” Lister spent the years 2001-2009 at Camp Warwa, starting as an Outdoor School Instructor and as Camp Director from 2004-2009. Scott works in the healthcare fundraising sector and has a special connection to giving kids positive outdoor and summer camp experiences. He met his wife, Erin “Jasper” Flaherty, at Camp Warwa, and now his two kids are attending Camp.
Cheryl Poth, Director
Cheryl (camp name Compass) is a lifelong educator and outdoor enthusiast who brings her passion for nature and youth development as a new member of the Camp Warwa board. Having worked previously in the field of outdoor education, Cheryl is proud to support a camp that has played a meaningful role in her family’s life—her daughter has attended for several years. Cheryl is committed to helping Camp Warwa create enriching, nature-based experiences for all campers.
Barb Majeau, Director
Barb is a longtime resident in the area of Camp, and is a member of the CPC SILKS that are long time supporters of the Camp.
